What I've Been Putting in My Coffee | December Edition

I have a coffee addiction, and I'm okay with that.

Addictions can be a slippery slope, of course, but some of them help us function and thrive in our day-to-day lives.

I mean, I'm addicted to exercise too, but it helps me get up in the morning, it assists with a healthy lifestyle, and it keeps my butt perky. I'm also addicted to getting shellac manicures, which is, of course, an expensive and vain habit. However, with my nails on fleek, I feel more professional and more inclined to type out a long writing assignment. So you see, some addictions can be beneficial to productivity and success.

For me, drinking coffee in the morning is part of a daily ritual. Rituals are comforting and they help keep me on track.

When I launched my blog a few months ago, I wrote a post about what I'd been putting in my coffee. This is the standard recipe I use for my morning coffee, but I like to mix it up a little as the seasons change. I made my fair share of pumpkin spice lattes at home this Fall too. Well, as you know, it's December now, which means it's time to mix shit up again!

Okay, so the current remix of my morning coffee is........

A mushroom mocha!

Here me out, guys. The mushrooms I'm brewing up have no taste and a ton of health benefits. Plus they're, you know, quite hip right now. But listen, mushrooms have been around for a long-ass time (longer than you!) and have been used for medicinal purposes for like, ever.

In fact, Reishi, Chaga, Cordyceps, and Lion's Mane mushrooms are adaptogens. This means they will adapt to whatever your body currently needs, whether that's balanced hormones, adrenal support, or a little boosty-boost to your your energy levels. Pretty groovy, huh?

So here's what I've been putting in my coffee as of late:

*I know I said I was done with dairy, and I've been doing my best, okay? But have you ever tried to get non-dairy whip out of a can? You have to let it sit at room temperature for like 20 minutes before using it and it still hardly comes out. I don't know about you, but I don't have time for that shit. And anyway, a tablespoon of whipped cream is only like 15 calories.

Okay, back to the recipe: I take all these ingredients and put them in the Mr. Coffee Latte Maker. Everything blends and froths real nicely into a fun holistic mocha. Drinking this makes me feel calm, satisfied, and alert.

Four Sigmatic also has mushroom coffee, superfoods, matcha, and elixirs for those of you who want to be a witch (or just pretend to be a witch) while you drink your morning concoction.

I also like to create the same recipe mid-day or before bed, just without the coffee.

Did you know that "Double double, toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble" is a Shakespearian quote from the witches of Macbeth?

Okay cuties, I gotta get to some actual paying work so that I can enjoy a real weekend in a couple of days.

What are you putting in your coffee? I seriously wanna know.
